1: الم

2: ذَٰلِكَ الْكِتَابُ لَا رَيْبَ ۛ فِيهِ ۛ هُدًى لِلْمُتَّقِينَ

2: This is The Book free of doubt and involution, a guidance for those who preserve themselves from evil and follow the straight path,

2: یہ کتاب (قرآن مجید) اس میں کچھ شک نہیں (کہ کلامِ خدا ہے۔ خدا سے) ڈرنے والوں کی رہنما ہے

3: الَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْغَيْبِ وَيُقِيمُونَ الصَّلَاةَ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ يُنْفِقُونَ

3: Who believe in the Unknown and fulfil their devotional obligations, and spend in charity of what We have given them;

3: جو غیب پر ایمان لاتے اور آداب کے ساتھ نماز پڑھتے اور جو کچھ ہم نے ان کو عطا فرمایا ہے اس میں سے خرچ کرتے ہیں

4: وَالَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِمَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكَ وَمَا أُنْزِلَ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ وَبِالْآخِرَةِ هُمْ يُوقِنُونَ

4: Who believe in what has been revealed to you and what was revealed to those before you, and are certain of the Hereafter.

4: اور جو کتاب (اے محمدﷺ) تم پر نازل ہوئی اور جو کتابیں تم سے پہلے (پیغمبروں پر) نازل ہوئیں سب پر ایمان لاتے اور آخرت کا یقین رکھتے ہیں

5: أُولَٰئِكَ عَلَىٰ هُدًى مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ ۖ وَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ

5: They have found the guidance of their Lord and will be successful.

5: یہی لوگ اپنے پروردگار (کی طرف) سے ہدایت پر ہیں اور یہی نجات پانے والے ہیں

6: إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ أَأَنْذَرْتَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تُنْذِرْهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

6: As for those who deny, it is all the same if you warn them or not, they will not believe.

6: جو لوگ کافر ہیں انہیں تم نصیحت کرو یا نہ کرو ان کے لیے برابر ہے۔ وہ ایمان نہیں لانے کے

7: خَتَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَعَلَىٰ سَمْعِهِمْ ۖ وَعَلَىٰ أَبْصَارِهِمْ غِشَاوَةٌ ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ

7: God has sealed their hearts and ears, and veiled their eyes. For them is great deprivation.

7: خدا نے ان کے دلوں اور کانوں پر مہر لگا رکھی ہے اور ان کی آنکھوں پر پردہ (پڑا ہوا) ہے اور ان کے لیے بڑا عذاب (تیار) ہے

8: وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَقُولُ آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَبِالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَمَا هُمْ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ

8: And there are some who, though they say: "We believe in God and the Last Day," (in reality) do not believe.

8: اور بعض لوگ ایسے ہیں جو کہتے ہیں کہ ہم خدا پر اور روزِ آخرت پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں حالانکہ وہ ایمان نہیں رکھتے

9: يُخَادِعُونَ اللَّهَ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَمَا يَخْدَعُونَ إِلَّا أَنْفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ

9: They (try to) deceive God and those who believe, yet deceive none but themselves although they do not know.

9: یہ (اپنے پندار میں) خدا کو اور مومنوں کو چکما دیتے ہیں مگر (حقیقت میں) اپنے سوا کسی کو چکما نہیں دیتے اور اس سے بے خبر ہیں

10: فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مَرَضٌ فَزَادَهُمُ اللَّهُ مَرَضًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْذِبُونَ

10: Sick are their hearts, and God adds to their malady. For them is suffering for they lie.

10: ان کے دلوں میں (کفر کا) مرض تھا۔ خدا نے ان کا مرض اور زیادہ کر دیا اور ان کے جھوٹ بولنے کے سبب ان کو دکھ دینے والا عذاب ہوگا

11: وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَا تُفْسِدُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ قَالُوا إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ مُصْلِحُونَ

11: When asked to desist from spreading corruption in the land they say: "Why, we are reformers."

11: اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ زمین میں فساد نہ ڈالو تو کہتے ہیں، ہم تو اصلاح کرنے والے ہیں

12: أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ الْمُفْسِدُونَ وَلَٰكِنْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

12: Yet they are surely mischief-mongers, even though they do not know.

12: دیکھو یہ بلاشبہ مفسد ہیں، لیکن خبر نہیں رکھتے

13: وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ آمِنُوا كَمَا آمَنَ النَّاسُ قَالُوا أَنُؤْمِنُ كَمَا آمَنَ السُّفَهَاءُ ۗ أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ السُّفَهَاءُ وَلَٰكِنْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

13: When asked to believe as others do, they say: "Should we believe like fools?" And yet they are the fools, even though they do not know.

13: اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ جس طرح اور لوگ ایمان لے آئے، تم بھی ایمان لے آؤ تو کہتے ہیں، بھلا جس طرح بےوقوف ایمان لے آئے ہیں اسی طرح ہم بھی ایمان لے آئیں؟ سن لو کہ یہی بےوقوف ہیں لیکن نہیں جانتے

14: وَإِذَا لَقُوا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا قَالُوا آمَنَّا وَإِذَا خَلَوْا إِلَىٰ شَيَاطِينِهِمْ قَالُوا إِنَّا مَعَكُمْ إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ مُسْتَهْزِئُونَ

14: When they meet the faithful they say: "We believe;" but when alone with the devils (their fellows), they say: "We are really with you; we were joking."

14: اور یہ لوگ جب مومنوں سے ملتے ہیں تو کہتے ہیں کہ ہم ایمان لے آئے ہیں، اور جب اپنے شیطانوں میں جاتے ہیں تو (ان سے) کہتے ہیں کہ ہم تمھارے ساتھ ہیں اور (پیروانِ محمدﷺ سے) تو ہم ہنسی کیا کرتے ہیں
